Proof that size is no guarantee of success at this season's Skye Highland Games Vice Admiral's Cup for keel and dayboats...
A new race format, heralded as a huge success, saw a series of three closely fought races throughout the afternoon ahead of the traditional drams, buns and banter at the trophy presentation in Skye Sailing Club's Scorrybreac Boathouse. So competitive was the racing that some swapping of hull paint was undertaken by the biggest boats as they attempted to muscle their way through the start line melée, and all racing within Portree Harbour was spectated by the cruise ship transfer boats that worked their way back and forth from the visiting liner Artania.
Corrected times on handicap saw results decided by handfuls of seconds with one down to as little as a fraction of a second.
