GENERAL INFORMATIONbeach softball skye sailing club
Aged 10 is our lowest unaccompanied youth limit, however, we will consider teaching younger aged sailors with a parent or guardian as part of a family group booking.

While we use the RYA course material and RYA Qualified Instructors for our school courses, we do not run them on the same timeframe for each Stage or Level – we take a little more time...

Our Summer School is not just about four days of sailing – Monday to Thursday.

We sail to, and stretch our legs on, local beaches and spend time slowly building students' confidence on and around the water, giving them a more rounded sailing skill-set, greater self-reliance and help them progress in coastal waters.

Sometimes the weather can play a part in changing the course make-up so we adapt when required and if we lose a day of sailing we always try to make it up on the Friday if necessary.

We can also cater for family groups wishing to learn together so nobody need feel left out – if booking as a family we are able to begin our courses with juniors aged below 10 – please talk to us first!

Courses will use various dinghies (new in 2016) and include:

Topper Taz – a great boat for Juniors whether starting out or experienced
Topper Club – a single handed boat giving you full control and sometimes a swim!
Topper Race – the ubiquitous dinghy with all the string and tweaky bits for racers
RS Feva – great two Junior boat with spinaker and can be a handful for an adult, too
Laser Bahia – perfect family boat with space for sandwiches and Grand-dad, too, if he comes
RS Quest – new design technology for trapeze artists and explorers alike

You will need to bring with you:
Towel (you will get wet)
Non-marking grippy soled trainers (they will get wet)
Boardshorts or sports shorts for over the wetsuit (helps with moving around the boat)
Warm clothes to change in to at the end
Enthusiasm and willingness to get wet!

We will provide:
RYA qualified Instructors
Qualified Safety Boat operators
Wetsuit if you do not have your own
Buoyancy aid
RYA Certification (if achieved) where offered as part of the course
Boat insurance cover

If you would like to take a RYA Course there is an overview sheet for under 16s, one for adults, and one for family groups or friends.

You can book online or by email with a direct bank transfer.

We are in the process of finalising our 2017 courses, please check back soon or send us an email noting your interest and we will be in touch as soon as dates are announced.
