PLEASE NOTE THAT UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, THESE EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ALL AGES.
Listed here are the current Open Events that the Club is involved with – but, everything subject to change due to weather etc. There will likely be additional entry and transport charges associated with some of these events.
Skye Sailing Club Open Day, Prizegiving and RYA Push the Boat Out event
We will open the doors to all and invite the community to come along, meet Members past and present, have a sail and hopefully join the Club. We'll round things off with a few gongs for the achievements on the water last season.
In order to make this a great, stress free fun day we will need plenty of volunteers for everything from making tea to helping run safety boats – sounds glamorous, I know, but not everyone can do the peachy jobs like turning the wetsuits through the right way!
Scottish Traveller Series Racing at Peterhead
Similar to the Venacher event the RYA will again make a couple of Toppers available for Skye Cadets to use at this event if they wish to go. Similar logistics involved, so, if you think you could be interested in taking part in an open racing event with other Cadets from around Scotland, let me know.
Plockton Dinghy Regatta
Our nearest neighbours are planning to have a dinghy regatta. We are invited. It is not team racing but no less fun if we join in. Details to come from Plockton but let me know if you want to take part and we'll see what we can do. There will be logistics charges and entry fees.
It's the summer… Summer Sailing School begins – the first of several weeks. Final make-up of course levels are in the pipeline.
Monday 7 August
Skye Highland Games Regatta
Third year now and with the skills in the Club we should see some fantastic racing.
RYA Scottish Club Trophy
A Cadet event aimed principally at relative newbies when it comes to racing – basically those that have not been selected to sail in a Scottish Development Squad. Combines coaching from the pros and a bit of racing. Would be great to take a team (3) or two (6) down to the Clyde to race Toppers… we shall see! It starts with your interest.
The Gunn Trophy
The big noise regionally for Cadets… can we hang on to it?
