Members may use any of the Club boats and facilities.
In order to sail a dinghy on your own you need to be suitably qualified either having taken a course with Skye Sailing Club or, perhaps, while on holiday at a recognised RYA Training Centre, a bit like us.
Aged 10 is our lowest unaccompanied youth limit, however, we will consider allowing younger aged sailors with a parent or guardian as part of a family group.
Boats available at the Club are:
Topper Taz – a great boat for Juniors whether starting out or experienced
Topper Club – a single handed boat giving you full control and sometimes a swim!
Topper Race – the ubiquitous dinghy with all the string and tweaky bits for racers
RS Feva – great two-handed Junior boat with spinnaker – can be a handful for an adult, too!
Laser Bahia – perfect family boat with space for sandwiches and Grandad, too, if he comes
RS Quest – new design technology for trapeze artists and explorers
There are also sometimes other non-Club boats that other Members may let you try.
To sail at the Club regularly you will need:
Full Membership (Temporary Membership available for suitably experienced visitors)
A wetsuit or drysuit – wetsuit boots with a hard sole are also advised
Pre-pay your session dues (adults £7, Juniors and Cadets £5)
Enthusiasm and willingness to get wet!
We will provide:
Safety Boat operators
Buoyancy aid, if you don't have your own
Dinghies as available
Boat insurance cover
If you would like to take a RYA Course there is an overview sheet for under 16s, one for adults, and one for family groups or friends.
Dates are listed below and up-to-date availability will be shown when booking online.
