Enjoy a different view of the Cuillin peaks and Portree's colourful waterfront from the helm of a Skye Sailing Club dinghy – you will be in good hands; the charity was awarded RYA Scotland Club of the Year for 2016!
You bring your packed lunch, training shoes and board shorts, Skye Sailing Club will provide the rest: wetsuit (most sizes covered), spray top, buoyancy aid, RYA qualified host and safety cover to help you get the most out of your time afloat. If you are experienced already a quick assessment of your skills will be done to check that your current RYA certification and ability suits the conditions locally and you could take off alone within a designated area, alternatively your host skipper will take you out and run through some skills that will hopefully have you controlling the boat by the end of the day – if you are lucky you might even get to sail alongside the local dolphins.
Our Dinghy Sailing Experience information sheet covers all the details you need to know along with a copy of the risk statement.
- One Day Dinghy Sailing Experience
- £99 per person (minimum two persons booked)
- £349 family booking of 2 adults plus 2 under 16
- From the Skye Sailing Club boatshed by Portree Harbour
- 1030-1600 with a break for lunch (perhaps on a beach nearby)
This is an activity experience and part of that will involve lifting and pulling dinghies in and out of the water – we do not have enough staff to carry this out for you. You must be willing to be involved!
Contact us if you wish to book a day.
As with everything outdoors in Scotland, sometimes the weather affects the running of the session but the charity will always try to fulfil your booking by moving to another day if necessary.
If this experience helps you become bitten by the sailing bug you could take one of Skye Sailing Club's 4-day RYA sailing courses.
